5 Tage waren wir mit einer Delegation des Innenausschusses in Eritrea.

Eritrea eines der ärmsten Länder der Welt erhält nach dem Friedensschluss mit Äthiopien eine echte Chance.

Geplant hatten wir unsere Reise noch zu einer Zeit als das kaum denkbar war. Migration eines unserer Schwerpunktthemen im Innenausschuss. Wir waren in Asmara, Massawa und Keren und haben uns neben politischen Gesprächen auch Projekte im Gesundheitsbereich und Bildungsbereich angesehen sowie mit Vertretern von Organisationen gesprochen.

Was haben wir erlebt? Unglaublich freundliche Menschen, Zeit für offene politische Gespräche mit uns durch den politischen Berater des Präsidenten, den Außenminister, die Gesundheitsministerin, den Informationsminister, den Fischereiminister aber auch Frauen und Studentenvertreter, Mitglieder des Deutsch-Eritreischen Zentrums und vor allen Dingen auch den Vertretern von Medcare Eritrea e.V. und Archemed-Ärzte für Kinder in Not e.V., die eine wahnsinnig tolle Arbeit leisten und unseren Handwerkern aus der Region die vor Ort helfen. Und wohl zum ersten Mal hat die EU Delegation zum Tag der Menschenrechte eingeladen. Nur wenn wir es schaffen die Bedingungen der Menschen vor Ort zu verbessern können wir Migration ordnen und steuern.

Wir haben Eindrücke mitgenommen die unter die Haut gegangen sind und wir haben die Hoffnung gespürt und das friedliche Miteinander der Menschen erlebt ebenso wie das friedliche nebeneinander der Religionen, wir haben auch erlebt, dass kritische Fragen beantwortet wurden. Vielen Dank auch stellvertretend für die Vertreter der beiden Organisationen an Dr. Ulrich Markmiller (Medcare) aus Aschaffenburg und Dr. Peter Schwidtal (Archemed) für die hervorragende Begleitung. Danke auch an Charly Seibert stellvertretend für die Handwerker aus Aschaffenburg für das herzliche Willkommen unserer Delegation.

Meinen Kolleginnen und Kollegen die mitgefahren sind Alexander Throm (CDU), Gabriela Heinrich (SPD), Canan Beyran (Grüne) und Martina Renner (Linke) gilt ebenfalls ein großes Dankeschön für das gute Miteinander in jeder Situation. Ebenso an den Vertreter derBotschaft und seine Mitarbeiter ein herzliches Dankeschön und natürlich an unseren Ausschusssekretariatsleiter! Nur im Team waren diese intensiven Tage so wunderbar zu meistern. Nicht nur wir waren übrigens vor Ort, auch eine Delegation aus Italien und den USA war zeitgleich im Land.

And for the first time, the EU has invited a delegation to the Human Rights Day. Only if we can improve the conditions of the local people can we organize and control migration.

We have taken impressions that have got under our skin and we have felt the hope and experienced the peaceful coexistence of the people as well as the peaceful coexistence of the religions, we have also experienced that critical questions have been answered.
