Das Eritreische Festival ist eine Kulturfestwoche in Eritrea, die im Jahr 1974 in Bologna, Italien von der eritreischen Gemeinschaft in der Diaspora initiiert wurde. Das erste Eritreische Festival im freien und unabhängigen Eritrea begann im August 1992, was von da an jährlich auf der “Expo” gefeiert wird. “Bologna” ist vielleicht das Bekannteste der Eritreischen Festivals in der Diaspora. Seitdem hat es sich bis in alle Winkel der Welt, wie beispielsweise in den Vereinigten Staaten, Deutschland, Schweden, Italien, Niederlande, Großbritannien usw, um nur einige zu nennen, ausgebreitet.
Das Eritreische Festival wurde zu einem Mittelpunkt für Eritreer nicht nur in Eritrea, sondern auch der in der Diaspora lebende Eritreer. Diese farbenfrohe Veranstaltung wird von allen Arten von Kulturshows, die die Vielfalt der Eritreischen ethnischen Gruppen zu gedenken, markiert.
Eins der Ziele ist es Eritrea, ihr Volk vorzustellen und die kulturelle Brücke zu Deutschland und seinem größeren Publikum herzustellen. Darüber hinaus bringt dies alle Eritreer zusammen, um gemeinsam Eritreas vielfältige Kultur zu gedenken und zu markieren. Daher ist das Kulturprogramm in Musik und Unterhaltung von multi-kulturellen, vor allem durch verschiedene multi-ethnischen, Musik und Tanzshows geprägt. Es bietet eine Plattform für die Anzeige und Förderung der kulturellen Identität, durch Literatur, Poesie, Vorführungen, pädagogische Seminare und Diskussionen.
Die Bedeutung der kulturellen Reaktivierungs-Programme wurde in unserer Kultur durch den volklichen Unabhängigkeitskampf eingeführt, um in Einheit den eritreischen Stolz, Kultur und Nationalismus zu zelebrieren und durch diese unsere starke Verbindung mit Eritrea aufrechtzuerhalten.
Die Einzigartigkeit und Schönheit unserer Kultur wird jährlich gefeiert, dass sich zu einer großen Kultur etablierte. Das Geheimnis hinter diesem großen Erfolg in der Erhaltung ist die starke organisationale Stärke und breite Beteiligung der eritreischen Gemeinden in Deutschland.
Die Eritreische Gemeinde als Ganzes ist in der Lage ihre Selbstwürde zu bewahren, ihre Kultur zu erhalten, zu verbessern und bereichern sie durch den Austausch mit anderen Kulturen und eritreischen Freunden. Aktuelle Projekte und deren Entwicklung wird einer der Höhenpunkte des Eritreischen Festivals in Deutschland sein.
Unser jährliches Eritreisches Festival bietet eine wundervolle und einzigartige Gelegenheit eritreische Kultur und Traditionen kennenzulernen und sich mit Eritreern aus ganz Europa, vor allem Deutschland, zu treffen und zu teilen. Es bietet Teilnehmern ein Netzwerk und Entdeckung für eine unterhaltsame und kreative Umgebung an. Das Publikum wird einen Einblick in die eritreische Kultur, durch bunte kulturelle Darbietungen, Musik, Tanz, Ausstellungen, Basar, Bildungsseminare, Diskussionsforen, Sport sowie bestimmte Aktivitäten für Kinder und Jugendliche, geboten.
Das Eritrea Festival in Deutschland findet, vom 7 Juli – 9 Juli 2017, in der Messehalle Gießen statt.

Eritrean Festival is a cultural festivity week in Eritrea which was started in 1974 in Bologna, Italy by the Eritrean community in the Diaspora. The first Eritrean Festival in the free and independent Eritrea started in August 1992 and It is celebrated annually at the “Expo” ever since. “Bologna” is perhaps the most well-known of the Eritrean Festivals in the Diaspora. Since then it has been spread to all angles of the world such as in the United States, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Netherlands, UK etc. to name a few.
The Eritrean Festival became a focal point for Eritreans not only in Eritrea but moreover Eritreans living in the Diaspora. This colorful event is shaped by all kinds of cultural shows that commemorate the diversity of the Eritrean ethnic groups.
One of the goal is to introduce Eritrea, its people and to build the cultural bridge to Germany and its wider audience. Moreover it brings together all Eritreans to commemorate and highlight Eritreas diverse culture. Therefore the cultural program in music and entertainment has been brought by mutli-culture especially through various multi-ethnical music and dance shows. It offers a platform to display and foster its cultural identity by literature, poetry, shows, educational seminars and discussions.
The importance of our cultural revival programs has been brought into our culture by the peoples independence struggle to celebrate in unity the Ertirean pride, culture and nationalism and to maintain our strong bond with Eritrea.
The uniqueness and beauty of our culture is being celebrated annually. The secret behind this major success in maintaining it is the strong organisational strengths and wide participation of Eritrean communities living in Germany.
Eritrean communities as a whole have been able to retain their self-dignity, preserve and enhance their culture and enrich themselves by an engagement with other cultures and Eritrean friends. Current projects and their development will be one of the highlights of the Eritrean Festival in Germany.
Our annual Eritrean Festival offers a wonderful and significant opportunity to introduce Eritrean cultures and traditions, to meet and share with Eritreans from all over Europe especially Germany. It will provide participants a fun and creative environment for networking and discovery. The audience will get a glimpse into Eritrean culture through colorful cultural performances, music, dance, exhibitions, bazaar shops, educational seminars, discussion forums, sports as well as specified activities for children & youth.
The Eritrean German Community will host its 3 Day Festival from 7th – 9th July 2017 at Messehalle Gießen.
