Workshop to strengthen Police cooperation in Eastern Africa concludes

Asmara, 01 February 2019- The three-day workshop that has been conducted from 30 to 01 February at Asmara Palace aimed at strengthening International and Regional Police Cooperation in Eastern Africa concluded adopting various recommendations.

The workshop was sponsored by the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC), and was attended by senior officials from Police, Prosecution Authorities, and Office of Attorney General from Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia and Uganda.

The participants conducted extensive discussion on relevant legal framework of crimes prevention, on significance of information exchange and cooperation, challenges of cross border crimes, human trafficking and smuggling of migrants and on other issues that help in reducing crimes.

The participants also shared experiences on the activities of Interpol, digital investigation, financial investigation, organized crimes as well as cyber-crime and cyber –enabled crime and other relevant issues.
