Eritrean Navy provided 213 of its members with marine- sciences and various naval skills

Training for members of the Eritrean Navy

Massawa, 06 October 2017- In a bid to equip staff members with modern naval skills, the Eritrean Navy provided 213 of its members with marine- sciences and various naval skills.

At the graduation ceremony, in which PFDJ Secretary, Mr. Alamin Mohamed Seid, Gen. Sebhat Efrem, Minister of Energy and Mines, senior Government and PFDJ officials took part, the head of the Eritrean Navy Training Center, Captain Efrem Tesfay said that 172 of the graduates took a one year course in basic marine science, fire-fighting, law and order, as well as human and material safety. The remaining 41 graduates took three year theoretical and practical diploma training in captainship, mechanics and other related courses.

The Chief of Staff of the Eritrean Navy, Col. Melake Teklemariam indicated that the training was in continuation of the substantial investment being made to equip members with the necessary skills with a view to develop the capacity of the Eritrean Navy.

Speaking at the event, the guest of honor, General Sibhat Efrem gave extensive briefing on the heroic feat of the Eritrean youth in general and that of the Eritrean Navy during the armed struggle for independence, as well as on the rich marine resources. He also called on the trainees to apply the training they received into practice.
