Eritrean Public Diplomacy delegation will visit Addis Abeba, MFA Ethiopia

Eritrean Delegation to Visit Ethiopia Next Week

Addis Ababa, Feb 7 (Prensa Latina) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia has informed that an Eritrean Public Diplomacy delegation will visit Addis Abeba on February 14.

All Eritrean walks of life will be represented and the objective of the visit is to strengthen people-to-people ties, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Our social and cultural ties are historical, and we will have now another opportunity to express and strengthen them with the most genuine exchange, the document reads.

The members of the delegation will attend several events in different Ethiopian regions, including a series of musical concerts in the cities of Adama, Bahir Dar, Hawassa and Addis Ababa.

‘Grand musical concert to celebrate peace between Ethiopia and Eritrea’ is the slogan of the performances of Eritrean artists, alluding to the end of the state of war the two states maintained for over two decades after the end of the armed conflict from 1998 to 2000.

Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Eritrea’s President Isaiah Afwerki signed in September a peace agreement during a ceremony held in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).

They ratified the declaration of friendship that they signed two months before, which was followed, among other actions, by the opening of embassies in Asmara and Addis Ababa.
