Asmara, 13 October 2017- The Land and Agriculture Department in the Central region awards different prices to 15 individual for outstanding performance in reforestation program.

At the occasion held on 11 October, the representative of the Forestry and Wildlife Authority in the region, Mr. Abraham Teklu indicated that with the reforestation program has been on going for many years with a view to redress the environment and that tree seedlings have been planted in more than 9 hectares of land.

Mr. Abraham reiterated that the awardees have been conducting exemplary reforestation activities in schools, religious places as well as at government and non-government institutions.

The awardees on their part said that the award will have significant input in encouraging them to do more and expressed readiness reinforce participation in the effort being exerted to redress the environment.

Pointing out that reforestation has significant contribution in controlling erosion and redressing the environment, the D. G. of Land and Agriculture in the Central region, Mr. Yemane Abai called on the awardees strengthen their reforestation activity.
