Eritreas FM Osman Saleh Receives Credential of New Ethiopian Ambassador to Eritrea.

Ethiopian Ambassador Arrives in Asmara

Ethiopian Ambassador accredited to Eritrea presented his credential to Foreign Minister Osman Saleh.

Redwan Hussein, the new diplomatic envoy to Eritrea pledged to enhance bilateral relations between Eritrea and his country.

Before taking up his new position, the 47 years old ambassador has served in various higher government positions in Ethiopia’s Federal Government and the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ Region government.

From 2006 to 2010 Redwan served as a Member of House of Federation representing the Silt’e people in southern Ethiopia of Gurage Zone.

From 2013–2015: Minister of Communication
From 2015–2018: Minister of Youth and Sports

Ethiopian Embassy in Asmara re-opens

Asmara, 06 September 2018- The Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Asmara was officially re-opened today, 06 September.

At a ceremony held at the Embassy compound, President Isaias handed over the key of the Embassy to Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed. The two leaders jointly raised the Ethiopian flag as a military band played the Ethiopian national anthem.

The two leaders also toured the Embassy compound.

It is to be recalled that the Eritrean Embassy in Addis Ababa was re-opened on 16 July 2018 with similar ceremony.

 

Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed returned home in the morning hours of today concluding two-day official visit in Eritrea.


Government of Eritrea appoints Ambassador to Ethiopia

Asmara, 21 July 2018- President Isaias Afewerki has appointed on 20 July Mr. Semere Russom, Minister of Education, as the Eritrean Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Ethiopia.

According to the 5 points Joint Declaration of Peace and Friendship signed between Eritrea and Ethiopia on 9 July the two governments have reached to restart diplomatic ties and activities.

The appointment of Ambassador will have significant contribution in the development of the promising prospect of peace and friendship between the two countries.

It is to be recalled that the Ethiopian Government on 18 July has appointed Mr. Redwan Husein as Ethiopian Ambassador to Eritrea.

Ambassador Semere Russom, who will maintain his Ministerial rank, has previously served as Eritrean Ambassador to the United States of America as well as Governor of the Central region.


Eritrean Embassy in Addis Ababa reopens

Asmara, 16 July 2018 – President Isaias Afwerki officially reopened Eritrean Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in the morning hours to day, July 16.

At a ceremony held at the Embassy compound, Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed of the Federal Republic of Ethiopia handed over the key of the Embassy to President Isaias. The two leaders jointly raised the Eritrean flag as a military band played the Eritrean national anthem.

As the two leaders toured the Embassy compound they both congratulated the Eritrean and Ethiopian people.
