President Isaias Afwerki received at Adi Halo Representatives of The Amhara Regional State, Ethiopia

President Isaias Afwerki today, 14 September, met and held talks at Adi-Halo with representatives of the Amhara Regional State led by the Speaker of the Regional Assembly, Ms. Werksew Mamo.

The representatives indicated that the objective of their visit to Eritrea was to express appreciation for the peace agreement reached by the leaders of Eritrea and Ethiopia and to contribute their part in the implementation of the agreement. They also said that the peace accord will have significant contribution in building the images of the two countries.

Indicating that friendship and peaceful neighborhood has been restored between the two peoples after 20 years, the representatives expressed readiness to transfer the new era of friendship and cooperation to posterity. They also expressed appreciation for the support the Government and people of Eritrea to the Ethiopian people at a time of the critical situation.

Underlining that the two leaders fulfilled the aspirations of the peoples of Eritrea and Ethiopia, President Isaias noted that in order to consolidate the peace prospect prevailing between the two peoples the opening of the Debai-Sima-Bure and Serha-Zalambessa roads will continue in other border points.

Speaking to the national media outlets, Ms. Werksew said that initiatives are being taken to make the lost opportunities for the past 20 years including air, marine, road and telecommunications communication that will have significant contribution in making the two contries centers of investment.

The representatives also handed over gifts to President Isaias Afwerki and to Presidential Advisor Mr. Yemane Gebreab.

The Amahara Regional State representatives comprise members of the regional parliament, religious leaders, youth and women representatives as well as businessmen.
