Eritrean Delegation to Arrive in Addis Ababa This Week

Addis Abab (Halbeeg) – Ethiopia authorities plan to welcome a high-level delegation from its neighbouring Eritrea this week in Addis Ababa for the first time since 1990.

Ethiopian and Eritrean authorities announced their aims to resolve one of Africa’s most intractable conflicts.

Ethiopian state-owned Media, FANA quoting officials from the country’s foreign ministry said the Eritrea delegates will be arriving in Addis Ababa this week.

Fana noted that officials affirmed the plans and the preparations to welcome the peace delegation.

Abiy thanks Eritrea 

Last week, Isaias Afwerki announced unprecedented decision to dispatch delegates to the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa for constructive engagement with Ethiopia.

Speaking at martyr’s day celebration in Asmara, the capital of Eritrea, Afwerki expressed hopes of a breakthrough in long time hostilities between the two countries.

Following the announcement by Asmara, Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed thanked President Isaias for the positive response to Ethiopia’s peace and reconciliation overture.
